New data reveals that yellow cars hold their value, at almost double the rate of the UK’s top car colour of 2024, black.
ATS Euromaster revealed a shocking 70% of car buyers care more about the colour of their new vehicle than the mileage.
While the physical appearance of a car may seem the most appealing when purchasing, it is more important to look at the general condition of the car, including mileage, brakes, tyres and service record.
When delving into what colours are the most popular for 2024, 1 in 5 (19%) of buyers said black was the most sought-after colour. However, the popular car colour doesn’t hold its value up against the less common and brighter colours.
Yellow cars had the least amount of car owners in the recent survey (10%) but they hold their value the best, only decreasing by 20% in value in the last 3 years, compared to black cars, that almost doubled with 38% of the car’s price depreciating at resale.
The below graphic shows the brighter your car colour, the most value it is likely to hold, with orange, pink and yellow depreciating the least.
Dependent on colour, you can expect to see the cost for cars increase by the below prices: Grey – £775, Red – £775, Blue – £675, Black – £525, Silver – £525 and White – £275.
