The wraps are off Britain’s newest supercar, the 202mph Aston Martin Vantage V8.
It’s quicker, faster and more economical than the former Vantage V12 and delivers 665ps from its 4.0V8 twin-turbo Mercedes supplied engine.
There have been extensive engine upgrades from the standard MB V8 as used in its models, but still no hybrid powertrain, for now. The 0-60mph time is said to be 3.4 seconds with a maximum 202mph and possibly 23mpg overall with 274gkm emissions combined.
Nevertheless, with a revamped eight-speed automatic transmission, extensively revised suspension and dampers along with recalibrated steering and brakes it will deliver the most dynamic package in the Vantage badge’s 74 years history.
There’re Active Vehicle Dynamics, Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers, Electronic Rear Differential (E-diff) and AML specific 21” Michelin Pilot S 5 tyres to extract the most from the powertrain in utter safety and perfect 50:50 weight distribution.
The car does not look too different to the model it succeeds although it’s wider but inside there is a completely new cabin design pointing the way to future AM models. Deliveries begin in Q2 and starting price is said to be about £165,000.
