Research into night time driving from Confused.com reveals almost a third (30%) of women avoid driving at night, compared to just 16% of men.
The findings from the Wales-based insurer show that 42% of women do not like driving at night, whereas less than a quarter (24%) of men claim it bothers them.
Over half (51%) of women dislike driving in darkness more than any other lighting condition, while just a third (33%) of men least like driving in the dark. Almost a third (31%) of men actually say the lighting conditions when driving do not matter to them.
Given women’s perceptions of driving at night, it is not surprising over half (54%) feel less confident driving at night, whereas in contrast just under a third (31%) of men feel the same way. This is despite just 9% of women saying they have had an accident or near miss at night compared to 15% of men.
