First year GP3 Series racer Seb Morris is eyeing a step-up in performance and competitiveness at Spa-Francorchamps next weekend, with a return to the points the Welshman’s chief aim.
Renowned as one of the world’s premier motor racing circuits, Spa is one of the greatest challenges on the GP3 calendar and is the kind of track where a true racer like 19-year-old Status Grand Prix driver Seb should have the chance to shine.
After achieving his first points finish during round four at the Red Bull Ring, thanks to a sensational rise through the order to fifth place from 19th on the grid, the Marford racer went on to deliver consistently strong pace at Silverstone and the Hungaroring but just missed out on more points.
Now, with something of a revised direction being taken with regard to car set-up following the summer break, the MSA Team UK and FIA Institute Young Driver Excellence Academy pilot is confident of a bigger breakthrough in rounds nine and 10.
“Spa isn’t as aero dependent as somewhere like Hungaroring, and there’s more opportunity for getting a bit of a tow as well, so I’m really looking forward to it”, commented Seb, “It’s the kind of place where you can race well and work on making some overtaking opportunities, so hopefully we can put a strong weekend together from start to finish,” he said.
