After more than 20 years at the top, Volkswagen Group Supervisory Board Chairman Ferdinand Piech unexpectedly resigned at the weekend after losing a showdown he provoked with CEO Martin Winterkorn.
Piech, is the grandson of the inventor of the VW Beetle and also resigned as a member of the supervisory board and any other mandates within the Volkswagen Group with immediate effect, VW said.
Volvo has confirmed the next generation V40 will continue the series at its Ghent, Belgium plant.
It will share its platform with a model to be made by parent Zhejiang Geely in China by the end of 2016, said CEO Hakan Samuelsson.
Jaguar Land Rover has been honoured with a 2015 Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development for its efforts to reduce the environmental impact of its products and operations.
The Award recognises Jaguar Land Rover’s development of world-leading aluminium vehicle engineering expertise, its new low emission Ingenium engines and reductions in energy and water consumption at the company’s Midlands-based manufacturing plants.
