A Rolls-Royce SUV will be built and is likely to be in showrooms inside two years.
Rolls bosses made the announcement in a one-page open letter to all stakeholders in the project – potential customers, employees, suppliers and media – signed by CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös and chairman Peter Schwarzenbauer.
The said “many of our discerning customers have urged us to develop this car” after seeing artists impressions of the car from earlier suggestions it might be built.
There is speculation it will be developed from the Phantom aluminium chassis.
It is likely to set a new record price for this class of car, with some predicting a starting point could be £250,000 or £300,000. It could be even higher and exclusivity would guarantee its success.
