Welsh rally driver Bob Fowden will return to the tarmacadam special stages of Ireland, writes Roger Gale.
This is where his performances in former years made him a crowd pleaser and where he has enjoyed great success.
For 2016 Bob will tackle the third round of the MSA British Asphalt Championship, in his new Comline UK backed Subaru Impreza WRC, teamed again with West Walian co-driver Paul Wakely, the Smartpart ALMC Stages Rally on 3 July in Trim, County Meath.
The Welsh pair took a Group B second on the opening round of the 2016 series, the PTMC Tour of Epynt, unlucky to retire from round two on the Isle of Man after engine management trouble on the new WRC machine, but now going into the return to Irish rallying with renewed confidence and invaluable ongoing support from Comline.
The rally starts from Trim Castle, with three runs through a three stage format of 120 competitive stage kilometres throughout the scenic Boyne Valley Region.
