The AA has come to the rescue of used car dealers.
The motoring body has relaunched Vehicle Inspections for dealers, offering pre-sale vehicle inspections that will help dealers stand out from the competition, protect them against new Consumer Rights legislation and increase profitability.
By having their vehicle stock independently inspected by the AA, dealers will benefit from the trust and quality associated with the AA brand. All vehicles sold with an AA inspection, will be advertised on AA Cars, the used car search portal, and come with 12 months free AA breakdown cover as well as a free vehicle history check.
AA Inspections are available for vehicles up to 10 years old, although high performance or exotic cars are excluded.
The detailed 128-point mechanical inspection covers front suspension, steering and underframe, fuel system, engine compartment, body exterior and interior fittings, electrical controls, exhaust system, rear suspension and underframe, brakes, tyres and transmission. It also includes a road test of up to five miles to support any pre-existing claims disputes.
The inspection will have a strict pass or fail criteria for each point, and will be in-line with the new Consumer Rights Act 2015, which came into force on 1 October 2015.
The new rules allow a customer to return a faulty vehicle within the first 30 days after purchase, and receive a full refund.
