Fuel costs falling again
The average cost of filling up a car with unleaded petrol has dropped to its lowest level since May 2016, as a result of the historic oil price falls caused by the coronavirus outbreak, shows data from RAC Fuel Watch. Pump prices begin rising again, says RAC Fuel Watch
A surge in world oil prices in December has brought an end to four months of falling petrol prices with a litre of unleaded going up very slightly (0.24p) to 126.11p, data from RAC Fuel Watch reveals. Supermarkets have increased the price of petrol and diesel every day since the end of March, adding more than 8p a litre to the average price at their pumps, analysis of RAC Fuel Watch reveals. The national average price of petrol and diesel rose in January for the third month in a row and is now at a four-year high, according to RAC Fuel Watch. Unleaded increased 1.34p at the pumps to 122.24p a litre while diesel went up 1.56p to 125.04p a litre.
