Britain’s first research project to assess the viability of biomethane in heavy goods vehicles has saved over 1,400 tonnes of well-to-wheel CO2e emissions compared to diesel in a two-year trial. The Dedicated to Gas project deployed 20 Euro VI vehicles running on biomethane to the three fleet operators, in a combination of compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquified natural gas (LNG). It was … [Read more...]
Low carbon trucks may not bring anticipated reductions, say experts
Britain’s first Centre of Excellence for low carbon and fuel cell technologies, has been looking into the future of trucks and refuelling. The trial was commissioned by the UK government to support the procurement of low-emission heavy-goods vehicle (HGV) technologies and their supporting infrastructure. In partnership with engineering consultancy Atkins, Cenex measured the impact of the … [Read more...]
Biomethane is budget beating for HGVs
CNG Fuels announced the launch of renewable biomethane fuel, the most cost-effective and lowest-carbon alternative to diesel for heavy goods vehicles. It is 35%-40% cheaper than diesel, and emits 70% less CO2, on a well-to-wheel basis. It therefore offers fleet operators the chance to significantly reduce running costs and emissions, and retailers Waitrose, John Lewis and Argos, as well as … [Read more...]
