It has been a long eight months, but Cloverlands Model Car Museum is finally open to the public again in Mid-Wales.!
Regular readers of our newsletter will be aware that we were forced to close at the end of August last year, to enable our hosts the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway to replace the life-expired roof of the building in which we are located – this essential work was made possible by welcome grant aid of more than £300,000 from the last Government’s Community Ownership fund.
The work has extended to recladding the building’s exterior and if you have visited us before you will notice some changes, especially a brand-new and much more prominent entrance to our building.
While we are welcoming visitors again the work is continuing – phase two of the project involves creating new interior office space for the railway which has positive implications for the museum, as detailed later in this newsletter.
Over the rest of the season, until the end of October, we will normally be open at weekends, from around 10.30am to around 3.30pm. However please check our Facebook page for the latest updates or drop us a line, especially if you are travelling some distance to visit us, as we are a very small volunteer team!
If you are not able to visit us at a weekend it may be possible at certain times to open the museum for midweek visitors – again drop us a line and we will see what we can do.
The second phase of the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway’s refurbishment project for the building which houses its Connections visitor centre and our museum involves creating new office space on a mezzanine floor, and this is good news for Cloverlands, as it means we will be expanding further in future.
