Ford secure loan guarantees for Dagenham engine plant
As Ford prepare to close their Bridgend Engine Plant this year with the loss of about 1,200 jobs, the company has secured a UK Government underwritten £500M loan to support its Dagenham engine plant. Speeding has reached a six year high. Figures from the DoT show 2.2 million drivers and riders were prosecuted last year compared to 1.6 million five years ago. There has been a dramatic rise in engine manufacturing in Britain. Brits want to buy British cars
Demand for engines to power UK models has kept the factories going despite a fall in exports of complete units for overseas vehicle assembly plants. British buy more UK made models
UK engine plants produced over 14% more units in April compared to a year ago. A total of 231,628 engines were built , including 99,041 destined for vehicles to be sold in the UK and that is over 50% above the 2015 figure.
