More than 200 dealers signed up to the new RAC Car Passport for dealers in its first week.
The new provenance check has been designed to provide a lower-cost alternative to competing products while offering high quality data and the reassurance of the RAC name.
Robert Diamond, managing director of Motoring Services at the RAC, said, “Things have moved very quickly straight out of the blocks with a strong reaction from mainly, so far, independent dealers. They in a position to change supplier quickly.
“However, we are also in the process of talking to dealer groups, manufacturers and others who may have contractual ties to our competitors. They all agree with our assessment that this is a sector that needed more competition – and that we are now providing it.
“”RAC Car Passport for dealers marks a departure. It uses exactly the same data sources as other provenance checks and is effectively identical in specification but offers a much lower cost and the high level of credibility of the RAC brand.”
To encourage early adoption until 30 April all checks will be available at an introductory price of £1. After this period, a simple and transparent pricing structure will take effect of £2.99 standard price, £2.49 for 5,000 checks or more, £1.99 for 10,000 plus and from 99p above 50,000.
