French car-maker PSA Peugeot Citroen has had to pay Iran to be allowed operating there again.
Although it was forced to pull out four years ago as part of international sanctions, the car maker has now agreed it will pay over 400 million euros ($446 million) in compensation for losses incurred by joint venture partners at the time.
Most sanctions were lifted in January and Peugeot started talks with the partner over restarting production of kit cars but the payment was necessary to be allowed to resume trading.
The sum includes compensation, royalties, and written off debt.
