A road in Caerphilly district has one of the highest pollution counts in the UK, outside central London.
In 2015 and 2016, recorded levels of nitrogen dioxide on the A472 at Hafodyrynys were higher than WHO guidelines according to government figures and now Caerphilly council said it was looking at ways of improving the situation in the area used by lorries and car drivers between the M4 and Heads of the Valleys road.
The world’s largest wealth fund plans to join the class-action lawsuits filed against Volkswagen Group over the automaker’s emissions scandal.
“Norges Bank Investment Management intends to join a legal action against Volkswagen arising out of that the company provided incorrect emissions data,” Marthe Skaar, the Norwegian Sovereign fund’s spokeswoman, said in a statement
Nissan has denied South Korean government claims that it faked fuel economy figures in that country for models made in Sunderland.
South Korea’s environment ministry said it believed Nissan had used a so-called defeat device in Qashqai, would fine Nissan 330 million won ($279,920), and order a recall of the 814 new Qashqai vehicles sold in the country so far, but Nissan says its UK-made Qashqai met the country’s requirements as well as those in Europe.
