The Unite union has urged Ford to convert its Bridgend & Dagenham engine plants to making electric cars and battery technology.
Currently Ford makes engines for the Ford Fiesta and Jaguar Land Rover vehicles at Bridgend and diesel engines in Dagenham in Essex, but diesels are delining and the JLR line is being closed down inside two years, so Unite wants Ford to introduce EV technology and manufacturing at its centres to save thousands of jobs which they say are threatened.
