Ineos Automotive has unveiled a third model in their series after the Grenadier station wagon and Quartermaster pick-up, the smaller Fusilier.
It will go on sale in 2027 with a choice of all-electric powertrain said to be good for nearly 250 miles on a full charge and as a range extending model with a near 170 miles range on electric power alone. It has also developed a fuel-cell powertrain ready for production once the hydrogen network is capable of supplying the zero-emissions fuel.
The Fusilier strongly resembles its larger stablemate Grenadier and Quartermaster but instead of the original models’ ladder-frame chassis the forthcoming model will use a flatter ‘skateboard’ platform which will have motors each end to give 4×4 ability, and it has ditched the reciculating ball steering which has been criticised in favour of a more familiar rack and pinion design which should produce a tighter turning circle as well.
Ineos said the Fusilier has also been developed by Magna who worked on the bigger models and the newcomer will be a genuine 4×4 with exceptional off-road capability, unlike some electric rivals.
