The Grenadier range has been deemed fit for duty with the Metropolitan Police after passing the force’s stringent testing process.
The seal of approval clears both commercial (N1) and passenger (M1) variants to enter blue light service with the UK’s largest police service, and acts as a benchmark for other forces and services too.
The Met Police evaluation programme is conducted with the highest degree of rigour, proving the capability and durability of vehicles over many use cycles. During the process, the Grenadier was required to pass the industry-leading Met Police Brake Test, which replicates the demanding pattern of response driving by accelerating the vehicle to 50mph and executing a full stop to zero – and then repeating this process exactly 50 times to ensure there is no dangerous brake fade or system failure.
INEOS Automotive already supplies vehicles to numerous security services and rescue and emergency organisations around the world, including elite counter-terrorism and special operations units in Germany and France, as well as police forces in Spain, Catalonia, Serbia, Slovakia, Poland and Abu Dhabi. The Grenadier can also be seen along the UK coastline this summer, after entering service with the RNLI earlier this year.
INEOS works with a roster of approved converters to ensure all vehicles are fully prepared to fulfil their required role. Where coachbuilding is required, the technical base of the Grenadier often remains as standard with no further structural modifications needed, and all original parts remain covered by INEOS Automotive’s five-year warranty.
In most use cases, the Grenadier is ready for service straight from the factory, with its standard-fit pre-wired electrical circuits enabling emergency services to easily plug in lights and equipment without drilling holes in the bodywork or chassis. The Grenadier also offers a vast, highly practical cargo space with 2,088 litres available in the Commercial variant, accommodating a standard Euro pallet with ease.
