Train and bus services into and out of Cardiff will be disrupted this summer with a number of music events taking place in the city.
Music fans are being encouraged to add journey planning to their pre-gig routine with train travel expected to be very popular for up-coming events in Cardiff.
Chris Brown, Lana Del Rey and two nights of Oasis’ sold-out tour are the first of many high-profile concerts held at Principality Stadium this summer. Cardiff Castle and Blackweir Fields will also be hosting big name acts including Tom Jones over the coming months, further increasing demand for rail services.
To help manage the expected increase in passenger numbers, Transport for Wales (TfW) and Great Western Railway (GWR) are adding additional services and extra carriages to existing services to get customers to and from the events.
Engineering works on main lines mean that some direct services between South Wales and the West Country will be cancelled and rerouted around Gloucester.
Cardiff bus station in the city centre will also close early during some events to permit road safety closures to be introduced.
With public transport affected, more music fans are expected to use their own vehicles and commuters and concert goers should consider park and ride schemes and sharing vehicles.
