AA Cars data shows the average price of the UK’s 20 most searched-for used electric cars has fallen by 10% in the past year, bringing more models within reach of buyers.
The latest Used Car Index found the Nissan Leaf remains the most popular used EV, despite its average price dropping 17.3% to £8,146. Prices also fell sharply for the Jaguar I-Pace, Tesla Model Y and Peugeot e-2008 while petrol and diesel prices were down 5.3% year-on-year, and hybrid prices remained broadly stable.
Cardiff Council’s Cabinet says it does not back a congestion charge as the preferred road-user payment option for the city,yet is looking at a Workplace Parking Levy but businesses have hit back and said it will add to their costs and discourage investment or expansion.
A Workplace Parking Levy is a charge to certain businesses for parking spaces on their premises. The council would use the money raised to improve the quality and frequency of bus services in the city and to make them more affordable, providing commuters with a high quality and reliable alternative to the car,

RAC head of policy Simon Williams says, “Just three weeks ago we were celebrating the biggest ever monthly drop in the price of diesel and now it’s gone up 4p in 10 days to 168.55p. The average price of petrol is also up nearly 3p a litre at 153.46p.
“This is an example of just how volatile fuel pricing can be and how exposed UK drivers are to global events affecting the cost of oil, because on 6 July a barrel of oil was trading for a little over $70, now it’s once again teetering on the brink of $90 and without the oil price settling far lower than it is now, it looks like unleaded will soon breach the 155p-mark and diesel will climb back towards 174p.”
