Traffic jams are getting worse in Cardiff.
Latest flow figures from TomTom studied off and on-peak journeys and found traffic management changes in the Welsh capital have made the daily commute slower for drivers.
It is now worse than Birmingham and Glasgow and contrasts with an improvement in commuting through Bristol.
Junction revisions in Cardiff along with more bus lanes and narrowing of roads to accommodate wider pavements have all added up to slow down the free flow of vehicles.
The Cardiff delays are now adding 56hrs annually to a typical run home at the end of the working day compared to off-peak times.
In 2013 the delays were 22% worse at their peak but now they have gone up to 25% longer in 2014 in Cardiff.
Belfast is the worst for jams in the UK, even more than London or Edinburgh. Globally Istanbul is the drivers’ nightmare with evening journeys taking over twice as long as off-peak journeys.
