Cardiff is being considered for a new type of Audi daily-rental scheme backed by the German manufacturer.
Working with Cardiff-franchise holder Mon Motors, the Audi on demand service is being rolled out to selected locations after a highly successful pilot programme in Oldham & Manchester.
It asks drivers to sign up for the scheme which covers most of their range and provides cars for an hour or more up to 28 days. Those in the scheme can switch cars when needed and they can be delivered and collected for the user for maximum convenience.
Customers must live within about 30mins of the franchise but Audi is using discretion and not being strict on this due to traffic congestion and location. Some models will be available only at certain locations.
Audi future programmes manager Charlotte Twigg (pictured) said the programme currently covers 12 models in their range and is constantly being reviewed to ensure the most popular are available for on demand customers.
“It’s a way for customers to enjoy the Audi driving experience before purchasing a model and it’s also proved popular as ‘an experience’ and reward scheme,” she said.
“We have had 100 sign up in Oldham and will gradually be rolling it out to the North East, Midlands and have Cardiff on the horizon.
“We have created the programme to be as easy as possible and clear to users who want to join and enjoy the Audi experience.”
Costs range from £70 to £190 a day depending on chosen model and that includes insurance for most over 21 years, roadside assistance, unlimited mileage, delivery and collection.
It can be done online and using a downloaded app to a mobile phone the user can see precisely what it will cost before going ahead and confirming the booking.
On demand has been a success in the USA, Far East and Germany and will be followed up by other future mobility programmes, added Ms Twigg.
