Welsh automotive suppliers are lining up to supply the new Aston Martin being made in South Wales from 2019.
There are a handful of Welsh suppliers to the Midlands car maker but since it said it would be building its futuristic electric DBX at St Athan and creating 750 jobs, the car component makers in Wales have been thinking what additional equipment they could be making for the international luxury brand.
Now the Welsh Automotive Forum is working with Welsh Government officials and Industry Wales and creating a special AM team to ensure the car maker gets what it needs and supply chains are as short as possible.
WAF ceo Tim Williams said the AM news was sensational for the industry in Wales and it was hoped to produce a significant knock-on effect throughout the supply chain and lead to still more jobs being created in member companies of the forum, which was itself set up following assessment of the impact of the collapse of Rover Cars over two decades ago.
