SUVs and smaller family hatchbacks dominate a ranking of Britain’s fastest selling second hand cars, according to research by AA Cars,.
The data reveals that Volkswagen’s Polo is the fastest selling car of the year so far, being advertised for the shortest length of time before being snapped up by eager buyers.
Motorists have also been quick to purchase Ford Fiestas and Peugeot 2008s, with the latter entering AA Cars’ quickest selling car lists for the first time.
SUV and crossover vehicles have become increasingly popular, as they provide families with ample space and strike a balance with fuel efficiency. At the other end of the scale, smaller hatchbacks remain perennially popular with buyers, with the Peugeot 208 also becoming one of AA Cars’ fastest selling vehicles for the first time.
The Ford Fiesta has been awarded the title of the most popular car of 2019 so far, with the hatchback outselling all other models. If the Fiesta continues to sell at this rate, 2019 will be the fifth year in a row that it has been Britain’s top-selling used car.
The Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Focus follow closely behind, two consistently popular models which have jostled for second and third place every year since 2015.
Overall, the most popular cars have remained largely unchanged since 2015, with the same 13 cars featuring in the list of the top 10 most popular models, showing that Brits are generally very loyal when it comes to their motors.
With regards to the brands, the data reveals that Brits are big fans of Ford and Vauxhall, two car marques that have topped the list every year since 2015. However, there is a new contender this year with Kia making its first entry into the top 10, knocking Renault out of the list. The used car market has proved to be thriving in both the premium and affordable segments, as the Mercedes A-Class and C-Class feature in the top 10 most popular car models of 2019 to date. |
