City of York Council has been awarded over £8.4million to support the purchase of 44 fully electric buses – one of the key sustainable transport schemes and initiatives which City of York Council wants to deliver.
The Department for Transport funding has announced this award following a successful submission by the Council in January and 33 e-buses already operate in the city.
Drivers will be able to see around corners ahead of them and act accordingly under a programme being developed by Continental.
Their system will use on board cameras and sensors on the driver’s vehicle as well as data gathered from other road users in the immediate area and even roadside cameras.
