South Wales Police recovered a £50,000 mobile crusher stolen from Horan Construction, a civil engineering and road surfacing company based at Cardiff Docks.
TRACKER, part of the Tantalum Corporation, the UK’s leading stolen plant and agricultural recovery provider, helped to identify the location of the 24 foot long and 15 foot high crusher in 36 hours, despite the fact it had been given a complete re-spray by the thieves in an attempt to disguise it.
TRACKER led police to a locked yard in Llantwit Major, South Glamorgan, during the night, leaving them to guard the site and wait until daylight for the thieves to return to the premises.
Dick Drysdale, Transport Manager at Horan Construction, explains, “We purchased the crusher second hand at an auction last November. Luckily for us it already had a TRACKER unit fitted, so it made complete sense to transfer the subscription to our business as the new owner.
“As soon as it was stolen the police were able to track it at speed. It would have been a huge financial loss to the business had we not had it returned. We could have waited weeks for the insurance company to pay out and I’m not even sure if we would have received the full amount that we originally paid for it.”
