M-Sport World Rally Team’s Elfyn Evans and Ott Tänak will be looking to master the notoriously difficult conditions of Rallye Monte-Carlo today as they pilot their EcoBoost powered Ford Fiesta RS WRCs on the opening round of the 2015 FIA World Rally Championship.
Known as one of the jewels in the WRC crown, Monte-Carlo has become famed for its unpredictability. Varying conditions are to be expected. Dry asphalt, wet asphalt, ice and snow can all be found in the same loop, and occasionally the same stage, making it one of the most demanding rallies of the year.
A minimum of 26 special stages from the FIA World Rally Championship will be broadcast on live television in 2015. Fans of the FIA World Rally Championship in Britain will receive improved television coverage of the series after both ITV4 and BT Sport agreed new deals for 2015.
Both networks will broadcast comprehensive coverage from all 13 rounds of the championship, which begins at Rallye Monte-Carlo today. Welsh language network S4C will also report on the series.
It starts with Monte-Carlo today and there will be live stages on Sweden, Mexico and Argentina rounds over the coming months with more to be decided later.
Munich, Germany, 19 January 2015 – Celebrities from the worlds of entertainment and sport will kick-start the 2015 FIA World Rally Championship during a spectacular opening in Monte-Carlo next week.
Monaco’s famous Grand Prix circuit will echo to the sound of raucous World Rally Cars ahead of the start of Rallye Monte-Carlo, the most famous event in the 13-round calendar, on Thursday (22 January).
Celebrities and guests will enjoy high-speed rides around part of the Grand Prix circuit alongside top WRC drivers from teams including Volkswagen Motorsport, Hyundai Motorsport, Citroën Racing and M-Sport.
Celebrities scheduled to attend include: Idris Elba – British actor; Renaud Lavillenie – French pole vaulter; Jacky Ickx – Belgian racing driver; François Cluzet – French film and theatre actor, and Elin Fflur – Welsh singer and songwriter who came to prominence in 2002 after winning the Cân i Gymru (Song for Wales) competition. She has since released five successful albums and is also a Welsh language television presenter (pictured right).
