The Labour Government voted against establishing a specific road freight strategy.
Welsh Conservative Shadow Transport Minister, Natasha Asghar MS said, “Road freight and the logistics industry play a crucial role in supporting the Welsh economy. It is deeply concerning that the Labour Government have voted against our Welsh Conservative calls to establish a road freight strategy.
“Our motion called on the Labour Government to introduce a specific road freight transport strategy, that would’ve provided real and positive support for lorry and coach drivers across Wales and it is a shame that Plaid Cymru made Brexit the reason for not backing our Welsh Conservative motion.”
She added, “Despite this, we welcome the Labour Government’s commitments to improving the provision of safe and secure welfare facilities for lorry and coach drivers, whilst ensuring the freight industry are best prepared to take advantage of new technologies.”
