Gwent boasts the safest drivers in the UK, breaking the fewest amount of speed limits. With a population of 588,300, recorded speeding fines in this area averaged just 31 per 100,000 people and drivers committed a staggering 99% fewer offences than residents in Lincolnshire, the nation’s worst speeding offenders.
Analysts at Moneybarn car finance studied the number of penalties received by drivers in each police force area, revealing the areas with the least amount of fines in the UK.
Dyfed-Powys residents committed the second-fewest speeding offences in the UK, with fines handed out to just 0.11% of residents. With a relatively small population of 516,100 residents, only 564 speed violations were clocked last year, averaging just 109 offences per 100,000 residents.
Residents in Wiltshire are the third-safest drivers in the UK, with 0.19% of drivers facing speeding fines. With a population of 747,100 residents, the police force recorded 1,397 speeding offences, averaging 187 per 100,000 people in the region.
