Fans visiting The Formula 1® Exhibition, in Madrid, can expect to get up close and personal with Scuderia Ferrari’s 2021 power unit.
Exclusively displayed at the show, its inclusion marks the first ever public display of a Scuderia Ferrari power unit, and the first display of a Ferrari engine since 2013.
Known for their extreme secrecy regarding design and technology, Scuderia Ferrari have worked in partnership with The Formula 1® Exhibition team to ensure this masterpiece of engineering can be made available for fans to enjoy when the show opens on 24 March.
Located in the Exhibition’s Revolution by Design room, the 065/6 2021 hybrid power unit features a turbocharged 1.6-litre V6 internal combustion engine, which has been built especially for the show.
It also boasts two electrical motors (MGUs) and an Energy Store Pack (ES) which includes ES cells and Control Electronics. Much more powerful than the first power units of the hybrid era, it can generate up to 1,000bhp.
Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur said, “We are thrilled to join forces with the Formula 1 Exhibition to showcase our 2021 power unit. The engine has forever been at the heart of Ferrari and the unprecedented amount of time spent developing and fine-tuning it is testament to just how fundamental it is to the team’s success. This piece of technology deserves to be shown to the world and we are excited to give visitors a rare insight into such an important part of our DNA.”
