The French Government has reiterated it will only assist car makers coping with the pandemic fallout if they are producing and promoting low carbon polluting models.
The big boost to electric vehicles is designed to be supported by a new scrappage scheme and replacement with evs.
The Independent Garage Association (IGA) has written to the Secretary of State for Transport, Grant Shapps, urging him to end the six-month MOT extension put in place on 30 March 2020.
Stuart James, IGA Chief Executive said, “Now that the public are being encouraged to go back to work and avoid using public transport where possible, the time is right to stop the MOT extension, adding, “With approximately one third of cars failing their initial MOT, millions of faults will be left unrectified if the full six-month extension goes ahead.”
Motor vehicle auctions are open for business online and are seeing good levels of sales activity, said Louise Wallis, Head of the National Association of Motor Auctions.
Although auctions were amongst the businesses that needed to close due to government restrictions, they have been able to operate online sales offering a valuable service to fleet companies and dealerships wanting to sell and buy stock.
