More than 200 cars are stolen every day and the trend is rising.
Looking at the DVLA recorded figures there are some unsurprising and surprising results.
Fiesta is the UK’s most popular car so it figures there are more of them to steal but Land Rover’s achievement to get two models in the top-ten thefts is more surprising.
Premium brands are highly desired for parts and illegal exports to certain countries in anonymous containers are another method, but the tightening BREXIT rules may slow down this expensive exit through tighter border controls and checking.
According to Rivervale Leasing’s findings, the top 10 cars stolen in 2020 were:
- Ford Fiesta – 3,392
- Land Rover Range Rover – 2,881
