The opening round of the ET James backed 2018 Welsh Enduro Championship saw the WTRA run Snowrun Enduro kicking the new season into gear in the Crychan forest above Llandovery.
With a capacity entry of 180 riders some members from the Lampeter based DDBC did well on their bikes the championship class did four laps of the 25 mile course in the forest whilst the Clubmen and Vets did 3 laps and the Sportsman class having 2 laps.
It was Charlie Evans (right) who took the win in the championship class on his Yamaha WR 450 with the Llanidloes Hafren DBC rider fending off KTM rider Ricky Wiggins by over a minute and a half after the six timed special tests that determined the results after both rider stayed clean on time on the checks.
Phil Jenkins from Lampeter finished 11th in the expert class with the Dyfed Dirt Bike Club rider aboard a 300 Gas Gas, Rhys George also with the DDBC finished 14th in the expert class on a Husqavarna 300 some 50 seconds down on Jenkins.
The vereran expert class saw Anthony Griffith from the DDBC claim 4th in the class just 34 seconds from taking the win on his Husquvarna 300. Ryan Leary would finish in 9th on his KTM 300, whilst John Hunt from Llanarth the final DDBC club member in the vets expert class would finish in 12th place on a KTM 125.
Rhodri Gardener flew the flag for the DDBC claiming runner up in the clubman class amd missed out on the win by just 10 seconds on his 300 Gas Gas. Gareth Jones from Blaenau Ffestiniog took 4th in the class on a Beta 250, and Gareth Jones Ceredigion taking 5th on a KTM 250. Josh Rees 10th Husqavarna 125 ; Dan Lewis Aberdyfi 11th Husqvarna 250 ; Chris Bayliss 12th Beta 300 ; Owain Davies Aberareron 25th KTM 250 ; Gavin Smith 26th KTM 300 ; Dean Wright 31st KTM 300 ; Aled Morgan 33rd Husqavarna 450.
Flying the flag for the club in the veteran clubman class with Phil George riding a KTM 300 with a winning marrgin of 41 seconds. Other results included Chris Thumwood 8th KTM 300 ; David Johnson 11th KTM 150 ; Richard Lewis 14th KTM 300 ; Cefin Evans 20th KTM 300 ; Owain Peckover 33rd Harfren Sherco 300; Gareth Lloys 36th KTM 250.
The sportsman class saw Mathew Harries from Lampeter finish 3rd in the class riding a KTM 125, Dylan Williams 10th KTM 250 ; Daniel Grifiths 13th Yamaha 250 ; Dave Brace 19th KTM 350 ; Heather Raymond 42nd Beta 300 finishing off the results for the Dyfed Dirt Bike Club members.
