The savings you would make to own a supercar have been probed.
Compare the Market reveals that over 40% of car enthusiasts would consider cutting back on monthly spending to afford a luxury or supercar in the UK but how far would we really be willing to go to afford our ideal motor?
The study revealed that 23% of female car enthusiasts would move back in with parents for a decade to be able to afford their dream car, compared to just 13% of male enthusiasts.
The Lamborghini Aventador, which has an 8/10 rating by TopGear, costs on average £271,146. Putting this into perspective, that’s £45,472 more than the average price of a property in the UK (£225,674) and almost 493 times the average UK weekly earnings for full-time employees (£550). Do you have your eye on this car? You would have to give up two pints a day for the next 106 years.
This wait might be slightly out of reach for the majority of us; an 18 year-old in 2018 would be able to afford the Lamborghini Aventador in the year 2124 by cutting out beer – we might be living longer, but we’re not immortal yet!
With this in mind, Compare the Market has also worked out what you would have to give up in order to purchase other new models of popular cars and you can view the calculator on the company’s website.
