Renault has expanded its range of multi-award-winning performance models with the introduction of GT 220 versions of the Mégane Hatch, Coupé and Sport Tourer.
Powered by a 220 hp version of the Renaultsport 2.0-litre turbo engine and featuring a Renaultsport-engineered chassis and 18-inch ‘Serdard’ alloy wheels, these new entry-level models to the world of Mégane performance driving continue to make Renaultsport technology more accessible than ever before.
The GT 220 is based on the Megane GT Line TomTom, but delivers up to twice as much horsepower and has even more dynamic driving characteristics thanks to stiffer springs and dampers and larger front brake discs from Renaultsport. The 8- x 18-inch ‘Serdard’ alloy wheels are fitted with 225/40R18 Dunlop Sport Maxx TT tyres.
The 2.0-litre 16-valve turbocharged engine develops its 220 hp at 4,750 rpm and drives the front wheels through a slick-shifting six-speed manual transmission. With 340 Nm of torque at 2,400 rpm at the driver’s disposal, the GT 220 can accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 7.6 seconds on the way to a top speed of 149 mph. Yet with Renault’s Stop & Start technology as standard, the GT 220 is also economical and efficient, returning 38.7 mpg on the combined test cycle, with CO2 emissions of 169 g/km.
It is based on the GT Line and the Hatch will be £23,245, Coupe £24,230 and Sport Tourer £24,245.
