Empty driveways are now at the forefront of increasing the number of electric vehicle charge point spaces in the UK.
Indeed, the latest research by online parking portal YourParkingSpace.co.uk reveals that homeowners with an empty driveway and EV charge point, who rent them to motorists who pay to ‘park and charge’ their cars, are now making a huge difference to the available stock of EV charge points in the UK.
Its figures reveal that it currently has 3,775 private spaces where motorists can park their EVs and top them up at the same time at 1,200 private locations across the UK, and it is growing fast.
And on average, each driveway owner with an EV charge point makes 12 per cent more income than surrounding spaces with YourParkingSpace.co.uk as they are able to charge a higher tariff whilst being more attractive to EV drivers.
Harrison Woods, managing director at YourParkingSpace.co.uk, said, “We’ve seen a rapid increase in homeowners with electric vehicle charge points registering their driveways to rent as they recognise the money-making opportunities they provide.”
