Britons are being put off choosing electric cars because they a simply too expensive, a survey shows.
Select Car Leasing took the average price of a standard Renault Zoe EV in Europe and how much it was a percentage of the average salary with some surprising results.
In Britain it was equivalent to 84% of salary and put the country in 13thplace in the countries’ league. Switzerland was way out in front with an average of 29% and the country with the biggest uptake of EVs while Denmark, Luxembourg, Norway and Liechenstein were all in the 50% range.
Germany and Ireland were in the upper 60% bracket with Austria, Iceland and Belgium making up the top ten in the 70% range.
Worst was Bulgaria where the Zoe amounted to nearly four times annual salary for a worker.
