Valentine’s Day is just around the corner many people may want to make use of one of the UK’s many roadtrips available and three of the best are in Wales.
With stunning scenery and spring starting in a month, taking in the views on a roadtrip could be just the answer.
With more than 6 million consumers in the UK having a car purchased on finance and most likely spending a chunk of their income on their vehicles, it’s evident Brits value our beloved cars. So, to make the most of them, 1dot, car care retailers, have researched the best and most romantic road trips to take in the UK this Valentine’s Day.
Top 10 quietest and best roadtrips in the UK
The research revealed that Military Road on the Isle of Wight is one of the best and most romantic routes to take this Valentine’s Day. With a search volume of just 300 searches and just 11 miles of road, it would be a short but quiet trip that avoids other cars.
Coming in second place is Glen Etive to Steal Falls in the Scottish Highlands, which takes the A82 to Waterfall Road. This route may be busier due to search volumes being higher (3,800); however, with the Scottish Highlands being very remote, you may encounter fewer cars en route.
Ranking in third place is Black Mountain Pass in Wales (a4069), which takes the Llandovery circuit. Not only does this road trip provide great scenery, but it may feel familiar as it’s known as the Top Gear Road, which featured in a 2011 episode.
Car care expert, Ash Young, also CEO of 1dot, has shared a checklist of things to do before embarking on a roadtrip this Valentine’s Day:
1. Check tyre pressure and tread – Correct tyre pressure improves fuel efficiency, grip and safety — especially if you’ll be driving long distances
2. Top up car fluids – check your engine oil, coolant and windscreen wash
3. Check lights and wipers are working – Test headlights, brake lights and indicators, and replace worn wiper blades
4. Give the boot a clear out – Empty the boot of items you don’t need. Extra weight makes the engine work harder and increases fuel consumption over long trips
5. Fill up before you go – Starting with a full tank avoids expensive motorway fuel stops and lets you take advantage of cheaper fuel prices where possible
