Drivers in Cardiff forked out over £12M in parking fines in 12 months, figures reveal.
Overall, Brits waste at least £132 million each year on parking tickets – that’s a shocking £530 million since 2015, with 14 million fines being issued by councils.
Leasing company Moneyshake obtained the data under Freedom of Information requests to over 40 councils and they found 1.1 M tickets were issue by Islington, London compared to just 35,326 in Middlesborough, the most driver friendly place in the UK.
Wardens in Cardiff issued 59,668 PCNs between 2017 and 2018, with £12,028,000 revenue taken that year.
A total of £41,320,000 revenue taken from parking/traffic enforcement between 2014 and 2018 and 68 wardens are currently employed.
Swansea saw 147,596 PCNs handed out, raising £6,216824 by its 22 wardens.
