Wales based racing driver Jann Mardenborough is recovering after his sports car left the track and landed on spectators, killing one of them, at the Nurburgring on Saturday.
One spectator died and several were injured but Jann, from Cardiff, is not thought to be seriously hurt after getting out of the car, being treated trackside and then taken to hospital for a routine examination and then released.
Film footage of the accident at the undulating Flugplatz section shows the Nissan sports car flipping in the air and somersaulting over fencing designed to contain debris on the track.
The driver is then photographed sitting on the ground while marshals and medical personnel attend to spectators.
In a statement after the incident, the Nissan Nismo racing team said, “ We are all deeply shocked and saddened by these events and our immediate thoughts go to the deceased, those injured and their families and friends.
“The team is fully co-operating with the race organisers to conduct an immediate and thorough investigation into this incident.”
