Eco Experts has released a new map exposing the European countries with the most noxious vehicles.
The study looks at the contribution of toxic emissions in 25 European countries, by cross-referencing data for the percentage of alternative fuel cars, average vehicle age, the number of vehicles per 1,000 people, and ambient air pollution.
The research shows that older, poorer quality vehicles are one of the biggest contributing factors to high toxicity levels in eastern Europe.
The Czech Republic has been named home to the most toxic vehicles.
Key findings from the research included:
Czech vehicles are the most toxic in Europe; Poland, Estonia, Croatia and Slovakia ranked in the top 5, making eastern Europe the most toxic region in the continent; Old, poor quality vehicles biggest contributor to toxic emissions; Sweden ranked in first place for being home to Europe’s greenest vehicles with lowest level of pollution.
