Automotive parts distributor, Fast Parts Wales, is running an MOT Tester training course for technicians on 22 November, offering full MOT annual training and continuing professional development in the industry.
The MOT Tester Annual Assessment for Class 3, 4, 5 and 7 vehicles, run by WG Auto Training, will be held at Fast Parts’ branch in Abercarn. The course will meet the DVSA Record of Training’s syllabus criteria, which includes three hours of annual CPD training, the annual assessment and all certification.
The MOT Tester Training programme, which replaced the old 5-year refresher course in April 2016, is in response to MOT testers and garage owners voicing their preference for ‘more frequent, modular training’ put in place to help maintain their testing status.
All qualified MOT testers must complete three hours of MOT CPD training and pass an online assessment on DVSA specified topics between 1 April and 31 March each year to retain their MOT tester status.
In 2016/17 the assessment had a 100% pass rate, with an 60% pass mark now required for 2017/18 – an increase on the previous rate of 50%. Instead of e-Learning training packages, the training will be structured to provide a hassle-free process where all relevant paperwork will be completed on the same day.
The MOT Tester Training course takes place on Wednesday 22 November at Fast Parts, Darren Drive, Prince of Wales Industrial Estate, Abercarn, NP11 5AR. The course fee is £80 + VAT.
