Wales’ Seb Morris produced a flawless performance at Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit over the weekend to celebrate three race victories with team-mate Gustavo Xavier during the second event of the GT Cup Championship season.
Super-sub Xavier joined Marford, Wrexham racer Morris as a stand-in for his regular RAM Racing team-mate Charles Dawson, who is recovering from a broken back, and the pair gelled immediately to deliver a series of outstanding results in Kent.
Qualifying the No.42 Mercedes-AMG GT4 third fastest in the GTH class for round five, the first Sprint race of the weekend, Xavier went on to seal victory on his GT Cup debut by 2.5 seconds to get the event off to an excellent start.
For the round six Feature race later in the afternoon, Welsh ace Morris and Xavier worked perfectly to make it two wins from two for the RAM squad. Rapid as always, Morris produced a terrific second stint and seized the lead late on to take the chequered flag nearly three seconds clear.
On day two, Xavier bagged pole position for the round seven Sprint race before making it a hat-trick of wins, again by a couple of seconds.
Seb said afterwards, “Brands was a great success, three wins out of four is obviously fantastic – I’m really delighted.
“The team were brilliant, we had a very strong car. I’m obviously disappointed Charles couldn’t make it due to his broken back, so I wish him well and a very speedy recovery. Gustavo did a great job throughout and we both worked very well together, which I think the results show! Overall it was a great weekend.”
