More manufacturers are piling into the scrappage schemes to boost flagging sales this year.
Volkswagen Group is launching a scrappage scheme for older diesels in the UK. Buyers can get incentives of between £1,800 and £6,000 for a new VW vehicle form any of its family of marques if they trade in an older vehicle with a pre-Euro5 diesel engine registered before 2010.
Renault UK has also come up with its £3,000 to £7,000 allowance and scrappage offer for any car or van in its range and sister-company Nissan is giving £2,000 if older cars are part-exchanged for the all-electric Leaf model.
Kia has also announced a £2,000 scrappage incentive for pre-2010 models. The deal only applies to buyers of new Picanto or Rio models, while Vauxhall is promoting a £1,000 top-up deal on part exchanges compared to a popular trading site.
More are expected to follow over the next week or so as the September part-exchange month picks up.
