The new generation Nissan Qashqai e-Power is arriving in showrooms and promises greater performance, lower consumption and emissions along with cheaper prices in some versions.
The latest Newcastle-made five models cost from £34,860 to £43,210 which means some are the same as the previous series or slightly cheaper.
Nissan Qashqai e-Power models are unique in having a 1.5 petrol engine transfer electricity into the on-board battery to drive motors in the wheels so careful programming means the system does not need an external plug in connection and the battery/ motors do the hard work while being constantly recharged.
Nissan has also been able to extend servicing by 50% to every 12,000 miles and James Taylor, Managing Director of Nissan GB said, “We are tremendously excited to bring the latest version of our incredible e-POWER technology to UK customers – and we’re very proud it’s being built right here in the UK.
“Now with significantly improved fuel efficiency, refinement, performance and emissions – delivered at no extra cost to customers – we are confident that the multi-award-winning Qashqai e-POWER will continue to be one of the UK’s most popular cars.’’
