In a landmark hearing, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency has seen a record-breaking fine imposed on a company with repeated overloading offences, following a hearing at Bristol Magistrates’ Court.
Starling Distribution Services Limited was ordered to pay £759,000 after being convicted of overloading and defective vehicle offences for the fourth time. involving their refrigerated 3500 tonnes milk van which was unsuitable for the work which should have been done by a more tightly controlled HGV.
