The average price of petrol and diesel fell by 6.5p in September – the ninth biggest monthly drop seen since 2000, said RAC Fuel Watch.
A litre of unleaded averaged 134.79p, down from 141.26p at the start of the month while diesel fell from 146p to 139.5p so drivers are now saving £3.60 every time they fill up an average 55-litre family car and the RAC believes they could stay low for some time, however other economists say there are concerns prices may dramatically rise if tensions worsen in the Middle East.

South Korea’s LG Chem Ltd has announced it has developed a new temperature-responsive material designed to suppress thermal runaway in electric vehicle batteries which is a composite material which changes its electrical resistance based on temperature – allowing it to act as a “fuse” that blocks the flow of electricity in the early stages of overheating.
The South Wales Metro Coryton line will close from Monday 7 to Sunday 20 October to facilitate electrification engineering to be done ready for a new generation of trains in Spring 2025.
