Toyota Manufacturing is celebrating the five millionth car to be built at its Burnaston plant in Derbyshire since it opened in 1981.
The milestone model is a Corolla GR Sport Hatchback hybrid, finished in blazing Scarlet Flare paintwork, and parked nose-to-tail, the UK-built Toyotas would form a line almost 14,000 miles long – more than half way around the world or from the Midlands to Japan and back.
Tesla reported $2.2bn net income in the quarter ended 30 September, up 17% on the same quarter last year and operating income was up 54% to $2.7bn, with a 10.3% operating margin.
The company reported lower costs per vehicle sold, including lower raw material costs, freight and duties as well as the impact of ongoing cost reduction efforts and vehicle deliveries were also up 6% – to 462,900 units – helping to boost Tesla revenues in Q3 to $25.2bn, 8% ahead of last year’s quarter.
According to parents on the school run, other road users are the most annoying people they encounter, with 40% of Holts Auto’s participants stating this as the most annoying group of people.
Following closely behind came other children’s parents, with 37% calling them the most annoying group of people and 75% said there was insufficient parking at a school to drop off or collect children.
