The future of Vauxhall is difficult to predict, said PSA boss Carlos Tavares at the Frankfurt motor show.
He will announce a plan for the German sister company Opel in November, but told reporters that it’s harder to decide on a strategy for the UK arm with its Astra plant at Ellesmere Port and van plant in Luton because of the Brexit negotiations and possible outcome.
Volkswagen will spend €24 Billion or over £18 Billion on EVs by 2030.
But that will be too late to save it from emissions penalties after 2021 along with other major car makers who are facing issues over their reliance on diesels and now petrol engines which will be partly outlawed unless in hybrid powertrains over the next decade or so.
