For more than a decade, The Trade Centre Wales and The Trade Centre UK have played a significant role in supporting grassroots sport and local communities across the UK.
During this time, The Trade Centre Group have provided assistance to more than 1,500 grassroots sports clubs under the age of 17, helped support over 25,000 athletes, and donated over £2 million to community causes such as and in support of the NSPCC, and been the main sponsors of the Child of Wales awards, underlining the companies’ long-standing commitment to charitable and community initiatives.
Continuing this commitment in 2026 Trade Centre Wales has committed more than £56,000 to grassroots clubs, charities, schools, and community organisations across South Wales – supporting the people and organisations bringing communities together.
From grassroots football, rugby, cricket and netball to children’s charities, schools and family support organisations, Trade Centre Wales’ Community Engagement Programme is helping local groups provide opportunities, tackle isolation, and make a real difference in their communities.
And at the heart of the programme are ambassadors Mike Doyle and Gareth “Alfie” Thomas, who have embraced their roles by getting out into communities, meeting the people behind local organisations, and seeing first-hand the impact of the support.
Backing grassroots sport
Some of the biggest commitments have gone directly to grassroots clubs, helping provide kits, equipment, and opportunities for people to take part in sport.
Heolgerrig Red Lion FC has received a commitment of £15,780, while Gorseinon RFC is receiving more than £10,000.
Trade Centre Wales has also committed £6,700 to Cefn Cribwr RFC, £6,269 to Cherubs Angels Netball and £3,421 to Machen Cricket Club, alongside support for Glyn Neath Rebels, Super Strikers FC, and Splott Netball.
But the programme reaches well beyond the sporting field.
Trade Centre Wales has also supported organisations including Kids Cancer Charity, LATCH Welsh Children’s Cancer Charity, Academy Arts Studio, The Bootroom and Cwmlai Primary School and a significant donation to the flood victims in Neath.
The businesses have also pledged an additional £20,000 this year for worthy causes and local sporting bodies.
